The rest of the story

A small town rises to the occasion in the aftermath of an ugly incident. The incident made national and even international news. The community’s response, not so much. But the story continues, whether it’s reported or not.

Mike McCabe: Bleeding is news. Healing should be, too

I was trained as a journalist, and in my life’s work I’ve dealt regularly with news reporters and editors for well over 30 years. For longer than that, I’ve heard people complain bitterly about supposed media bias. In recent years the complaints have intensified and grown ugly, threatening the legitimacy of journalism.

The world still needs Gandhi

With all that’s happening right now in the world’s two largest democracies, the spirit of Gandhi needs to be summoned again, says We Are Many-United Against Hate advisory board member Amitabh Pal.

Opinion: Why we still need Gandhi

The leaders of the world’s two largest democracies need to heed the principles of a remarkable man whose 150th birthday we are currently celebrating. Mohandas Karamchand “Mahatma” Gandhi, who was born on Oct. 2, 1869, left a worldwide legacy with his focus on ethics, nonviolence, tolerance and social justice.

Crowd-funding campaign launched

We’ve launched a crowd-funding campaign to support our mission and would ask you to consider donating to help us continue to expand our capacity to provide educational and outreach events in Wisconsin and beyond.

Some feedback from our event at Mount Horeb High School:

Thank you again for making today possible! The students got so much from the assembly and talked all day about the positive messages they took away. I heard multiple times that you all were the best speakers they’ve ever heard. The students are still talking about it and the impact it had on them. Even parents are emailing about what a wonderful opportunity our school provided to our community.”

And an instructor at UW-Oshkosh shared these thoughts:

I have heard wonderful feedback today from both students and instructors. We very much enjoyed the workshop and evening presentation and learned a lot. Please extend our thanks to Arno and Pardeep as well. We will continue to be in touch. Thank you for the work you are doing with United Against Hate. I was inspired yesterday and challenged to continue to be brave in standing up to hate in all forms and encouraging my students to do the same.”

Please consider making a gift today. Thank you!
